Background Information

Rachel Gichia started Dream Children’s Home to help children orphaned as a result of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Ngong, and area on the outskirts of Nairobi in Kajiado county. Ngong is a child friendly area, is semi arid, and the dominant culture is the Masai, although other tribes are present.

Dream Children’s Home is located on its own land and is registered by the government of Kenya. The vision if Dream Children's Home is to have children who can be responsible in the future- children who are whole and alive. Dormitory housing, a feeding program, public primary schooling, and medical care is provided for all our children. Guidance counseling is also provided for the children as they grow. Currently, LTC is the sole source of ongoing financial support. Dream receives some foodstuffs from Subaru Kenya and Osho Grain Millers. From time to time, it also receives support from local organizations and neighborhood well-wishers.
