Swabur children’s Home is a charitable organization founded in the year 2005 by Zaharia Mwalimu Badi and Mr Jumaa Bakari Kingabwa. The fact that Zaharia was orphaned at the age of 9 years old, compelled by the situation she went through at that tender age made her to initiate a children’s centre given that she practically understood the tribulation that orphans go through.
The sad childhood memories rekindled her mind when she came across a little boy, who seemed to be lacking all the basic human needs as she was sitting outside her house one early morning. On further interrogation, she learnt that the boy’s father had just died from accident the mother had passed on earlier. She offered to stay with the little boy so that he doesn’t go through what she experienced due to a lack of parents.
Zaharia afterward secured a sponsor from Britain, who offered to cater for all the needs of the child. The sponsor later asked her to admit more orphans so as to adequately address the socio-economic needs of many underprivileged members of the community to address the socio-economic effects of p[overty and achieve sustainable growth.
