An orphanage in Kikuyu, Nairobi, Kenya

The Founders

Peter Chege Gathungu and Winnie Wangari Chege work to provide quality care, support and protection for orphans and vulnerable children. By giving love and care they are helping the children grow up to be better people.

The Current Centre

The home includes dormitories, basic kitchen facilities and bathrooms. The children are provided with food and clothing as well as some access to health care and education.

Source of their Funding

Much of the funding comes from Lift the Children and from the director’s income. Some funding comes from well-wishers in the community. The home also has fund-raisers to pay for educational costs such as school fees and uniforms.

Areas of Endeavor

Msamaria Mwema provides the children with guidance and counselling, as well as access to recreational facilities.

Present Challenges

The home struggles to provide adequate nourishment for the children. There is also a lack of space at the current facility. Funding to pay education related costs is also needed.
