THE NATURE OF BODY OF CHRIST CHILDREN CENTRE.

Joseph Kimani Memorial children’s Home is a registered nonprofit charitable organization. It caters for the orphans, truly needy and the vulnerable children who are 160 both residential and non residential. It has a boarding facility which caters for both girls and boys. Joseph Kimani Memorial children’s Home is keenly involved in offering the best home care, adequate food, shelter, psychological support, proper medical care, access to education which is fundamental pillar to hope of good life in future to have harmonious, hopefully, transformed and prosperous person in a strong empowered society. It started its operation in the year 2004

The founder and the vision bearer of the center, Pastor Mary watare Mbugua, is a retiree. She always had a dream to start a humanitarian Centre for the truly needy, poor, less fortunate and discriminated in life. Unfortunately, before her dream became a reality, life had to deal with her a painful blow. she lost her son through a tragic  road accident.  In her words, she made a decision, “all that I could have given to my son; food, clothing, shelter, education, I will give to the poor, needy, less fortunate and orphans.” She got a house which was not in use, rented, furnished and started taking children in. The number kept growing until pastor Mary Watare, using her own pension saw that feeding children alone was not enough. She started free nursery school within the Centre. Children could get; education, breakfast and lunch. she got a team of volunteer workers who used to pay their allowances using her pension. All what pastor Mary and her team enjoyed was to see these children’s; true joy, love, peace and self-esteem.

GOD CALLS TO YOU.

This is a call to each one of us with little resources at our disposal. Lets reach to the poor, needy and less privileged in life. In charity, nothing is too small. Even if it’s a glass of water.

We are proud to have kept the fire of hope and inspiration burning and now the home has a population of 164 children. Those who reside in the home are 13 boys and 29 girls a total 42  children. The outreach program (those that come and leave in the afternoon) are 58 boys and 67 girls a total of 125.

To cater for the children education, we have a school. It has a nursery section, then grade 1-5. We have other senior school going children who are attending government schools. Three of these children will be sitting for the national examination this year (2020). We are confident that they will do well since their performance records are good. We currently have 10 students in high school. 7 are in boarding school while 3 are in day high school. We have three university going students. One is pursuing law, the second one medicine (India) and the last one journalism.
