 About the Orphanage

Bondeni Children Rescue Centre is a children’s home in the heart of Athi River town located at Site Estate. BONDENI Children Centre started as a feeding program. In the heart of BONDENI Slums in Athi River Town in the year 2014. The program targeted the children who had dropped out of school due to various issues occasioned either by poverty, death of parents, separation and parental negligence abuse and mistreatment and therefore left desperately to feed for themselves.

Bondeni means “in the valley” and Bondeni wants to move and scale the heights to fulfill and attain the aspirations of the children.

The home is now seven years old and registered and is now hosting a home to 90 children, both boys and girls aged between 2 and 17 years. We have an outreach program of another 20 children who reside with their guardians within the community where we follow up on them by providing some basic needs and facilitating the provision of bursaries for school fees for others. We aim to reach out many more needy kids as we build up our capacity.

Lift the Children officially visited this orphanage to verify all the above information and that's why we are confident to have them be part of our programme.

The support the most needy and vulnerable children, the children in their centre are genuine and from trusted government agencies and other verifiable local sources.

It’s run by a couple Mr and Mrs Gitau- who have committed their life and resources to give a better life to the children.

Their Needs and how you can help

Your support will go towards paying school fees, buying food and improving shelter for the children. At the moment, girls and boys share toilets, some girls share beds while others sleep on the floor- same as the boys. With your help, the orphanage will overcome some of these challenges.

What to expect

LTC will continue to update you through the monthly surveys, you will be able to connect and speak directly to the directors and if you want, write and exchange letters with them. Our Country director visits the orphanage regularly to determine that your donation and support is going towards improving the welfare of the children. LTC will also continue training the home on how to raise additional resources.
