 About Alpha Joy Children home

Alpha Joy is a Children Home that was founded in 23rd June 2000 by the late Mary Wambui Mungai who despite having the burden of rearing her own children was touched by the plight of orphans in her village. After 4 years she passed on in the year 2004 and left the responsibility to her husband Edward Mungai. Edward took the responsibility with devotion and continued attending to them for nearly ten years upto January 2014, when he also passed on. The responsibility was then passed on to their children, most of whom had matured and left home. Their children decided to carry on the legacy but realizing that they were not fully equipped they requested some of the well wishers to help them and hence a Board of Management was formed which runs the home.

Lift the Children came across Alpha Joy almost 10 years ago and has worked with them closely through a monthly donation. This donation has seen many orphans, destitute and vulnerable children from the tiny villages around Alpha joy attend school, live in a safe and clean space and receive the much needed warmth of a place that feels like home.

Over the years wehave seen many children who otherwise had no hope, transition to secondary schools, colleges and later become reliable breadwinners.

Alpha Joy is located in Kiambu County, Limuru Subcounty, Ndeiya Location( Makutano Village) 100 metres from Ndeiya Health Centre which is along Gikambura - Mutarakwa road. The neighborhood mostly have very vulnerable families.

Working with Alpha Joy, we have managed to offer a stable and reliable Feeding program, accomodations, spiritual programs, Education to children, Health programs, psychological support and capacity building in self reliance.
