Background Information

Wings of Compassion was founded on 1st. May 2011 by Rev. Danshire and his wife, Dorcas Danshire. It started as a feeding program in their residence. The move to establish the organisation was out of compassion to give hope to vulnerable and hopeless pregnant teenage girls a new lease of life. These school going girls are victims of broken families, death of bread winners, poverty, sexual abuse and exploitation, early sexual relationships, drug abuse and prostitution.

These 15 yrs and under girls are either rejected by their families on conceiving and most drop out of school with no one to turn out or nowhere to go. They come when traumatised, stigmatised and suffering from rejection and not trusting anyone. Most contemplate suicide and are bitter about their unwanted pregnancy. They need someone they can trust and confide in. They need food, shelter, clothing, protection, love, encouragement, counselling, mentorship, care and a home for themselves as well as the children they are expecting. The Danshires thus availed their rented premises for this purpose. Background info of the home
